Welcome to the BLIMP!

The World as It Happens.

Introducing the BLIMP, the BLog of the IMPeratore Library.

You know the Imperatore Library as a great place to study, check out the latest bestseller, or just hang out and play a board game. When you need that critical source for your research project, the library’s the place to go: a book on ancient Egypt, online access to an article on AIDS, anything and everything from cave painting to string theory, from Catherine the Great to Hurricane Katrina.

But what about the news that’s coming out every day, every minute, every second, in medicine, history, science, the arts? Already, our library offers two daily newspapers, 80+ print magazines and journals, and online access to hundreds more titles. Our Tablets, iPods, iPads, even our phones feed us constantly with the world as it’s being made, right before our eyes. How does anyone navigate all this?

Enter the BLIMP. Our blog gives you a bit more of a handle on topics that are interesting, relevant, and above all, very, very current. We’ll make connections among the most authoritative journals of record, news sites, online magazines, podcasts, and our own library holdings.

Visit the BLIMP station, located in front of our periodicals section, and try out the interactive touch screen: read a post, link to Web sites, listen to a podcast, watch a video. We also want you to join the conversation by posting your thoughts in the comments section.

It’s the world as it happens.

History, as it’s going down.

Rise to it: read the BLIMP.

(Be sure to like us on Facebook, too!)
